Christmas Update and White Elephant!
Looking forward to December we have a few updates that we wanted to inform you about.
Christmas and New Year's Eve
The first is that, two of the Wednesday nights are Christmas and New Year’s Eve respectively. With this in mind and following on from a Poll on the Facebook page, we have decided not to run on Christmas Eve, but will still be running on New Year’s Eve, for those of us wanting to Board Game our way into 2026!
White Elephant!
The second and more interesting update is that Andrew will be running a White Elephant this year! Sort of like Secret Santa mixed with Pass the Parcel, this is a gift exchange that he has run in the past, which will be taking place on the 17th December – our last event before Christmas.
This will be my first year taking part and having not done a White Elephant myself I cannot speak for the rules, but having discussed it with him in person, it sounds like a lot of fun.
To take part all you need to do is arrive with a wrapped board game or collection of board games (wrapped as one) at £20 (or more) and you will walk away with at least one new board game that someone else has brought in.
For further details as to how it work or ask any questions, please see Andrew’s post.
A Successful 2025
Finally, before the year is up, I also wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to everyone who has attended Medway Area Boardgamers over 2025!
It has been a brilliant year for the club from the success of our All Day Gaming events becoming a more regular occurrence, to the countless number of new people who have joined us (that I am still trying to learn the names of) and of course our regulars (regardless of how long you have been coming) who continue to be outstanding humans I count myself lucky to have the luxury of knowing.
I am hoping to get at least one more post out before the year is done, to go over my own year in the board game world (depending on when you read this is might even be linked here). So keep those peepers peeled if you’re looking for some slightly biographical, light reading over the festive period.
All that remains to be is we look forward to seeing you hopefully at least once before Christmas, but if not Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
